SERVA Trypsin  – The best choice for your lab

Trypsin from SERVA

With SERVA‘s Trypsin portfolio, you get a coordinated product for many applications. Inform yourself about our qualities for cell culture, mass spectrometry or sequencing.

Trypsin has many uses in the laboratory. For example, adherent cells dissolve by use from culture dishes (cell culture). In addition, it is the enzyme of choice in proteomics. Here, proteins are digested to receive peptides in order to analyze them by mass spectrometry (in-gel digestion).

The SERVA qualities

Trypsin Sequencing Grade, modified, from porcine pancreas

Use this quality for protein digestion for following mass spec analysis. Additionally, you can use this quality for protein sequencing.

The Lysine residues of this quality were modified by reductive methylation and purified by chromatography afterwards. This results in a stabilization of the Lysine residues against autolysis and thus no Chymotrypsin activity is detectable. We test the specifity by degrading the oxidized B-chain of the Insulin.

Trypsin MS approved

Use this quality for use in mass spectrometry analysis.

The Lysine residues of this quality were modified by reductive methylation and purified by chromatography afterwards. This results in a stabilization of the Lysine residues against autolysis and thus no Chymotrypsin activity is detectable.

MS approved means that each lot is tested by mass spectrometry.

Trypsin 1:250 from porcine pancreas

The Serine protease mixture for cell culture contains Chymotrypsin- and non-proteolytic activities. Therefore, Trypsin 1:250 is a special enzyme mixture to achieve maximum cell viability with gentle detachment.

Use a working concentration of 250 mg/100ml, pH 7-8.

Customers’ opinion regarding our Trypsin

„For several years we have been looking for a real alternative to the „sequenzing grade“ Trypsin of a well-known manufacturer. We found it: Trypsin MS approved by SERVA. It works at least as efficiently and specifically as the „gold standard“ we used before, and does not generate any significant autolytic peaks. A major plus, particularly for a mass spec core facility, is the moderate pricing.“ Dr. Stefan Baumeister, Philipps-Universität Marburg

We use Trypsin Premium Grade, MS approved, from porcine pancreas for enzymatic protein digestion. The enzyme is characterized by stable activity, purity and durability. Furthermore, the trypsin is easy to handle, requires very small amounts for the digestion, it dissolves efficiently in buffer and we hardly observe self-digestion.” Christiane Rewerts, Core Unit Proteomics, Max-Planck-Institut für Psychiatrie München

„In the Proteomics Core Facility, we use SERVA trypsin for sample preparation by in-gel digestion for mass spectrometry. The SERVA Trypsin convinces with its efficiency and specificity with a very low miscleavage rate.” Dr. Andreas Marquardt, Universität Konstanz
